Three people – two males and a female – have been arrested following a home invasion involving an axe in the Wellington suburb Te Aro.
Three of the four alleged offenders have been charged with kidnapping and aggravated burglary, following the incident during the afternoon of September 27.
Detective Sergeant Steve Wescott said the alleged offenders, one armed with an axe, entered a home on Dixon St while the occupants were there, demanded property and made threats.
Electronics and cash were stolen.
A search of a property on the Kāpiti Coast on Wednesday led to the arrests, Wescott said.
At least three firearms were uncovered during the search.
The men charged, a 27-year-old and a 29-year-old, appeared in Wellington District Court on Wednesday and are due to reappear on October 27.
A 22-year-old woman was expected to appear in the district court on Thursday.
The fourth suspect, a male, is still sought by police.
