Police have arrested 26 people as part of an operation into illegal drugs, and have seized millions of dollars worth of assets.
As part of Operation Cincinnati, more than 100 police staff carried out search warrants at 34 properties throughout the Auckland region this week.
Police seized a large quantity of drugs, including methamphetamine and MDMA, along with commercial grade drug making equipment, illegal firearms, and millions of dollars’ worth of assets, including high-end vehicles.
A number of people will appear in an Auckland court facing a raft of charges in relation to the importation, production and supply of illegal drugs including MDMA.
On Thursday, police said 26 people had been arrested as part of a major police sting called Operation Cincinnati.
Seventeen people have been charged with participating in an organised criminal group between January 2019 and October 2020 by dealing in controlled drugs and with the objective of obtaining material benefits.
Experts say MDMA, which is also known as ecstasy, is fast becoming one of New Zealand’s most popular illicit drugs.
