Five people have been taken to Whangārei Hospital in moderate condition following a multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 in Northland.
St John spokeswoman Beverlery Tse said crews were called to the scene at the intersection of SH1 and SH12, in Brynderwyn, around 8.20am on Friday.
Three ambulances, a doctor, a manager and a helicopter from Whangārei were sent to the scene.
As of 9.25am, five patients had been treated and were in moderate conditions, Tse said.
They had all been transported to Whangārei Hospital.
Tse said it was possible there were at least another two patients still to be treated.
